When I created my script there are many
things that I had to consider the main one was my macro which was the
representation of gender. In the script I decided to create a sequel of the
Holiday. The reason why I wanted to create a sequel was because I had many
ideas to represent gender though men in making the females sounding strong and
more masculine. When I look back to my 9 key frames against my script I can see
that my script is stronger as I explored gender more and showed it more with the
language that I used. I also looked in depth the characters that I wanted for
my sequel I wanted a feminine man and a more masculine women. So when I started
to write my script I watched different romantic films and picturing the
characters saying the lines in which I had planned. In my 9 key frames I tried to show gender via the images. I
decided to picture more of the field in my 9 key frames as I felt it showed
more about gender. As the first picture I took was Kate Winslet (Danica Ebers)
standing alone which this is a masculine thing to do. So I thought it was a
good way to show gender and how females are more masculine than men. I decided
to look in to showing gender with though the costumes wearing a tight jacket
shows a very feminine man, as men generally tend to wear large clothing. The
camera angles I used in my 9 key frames I tried to make the women look more
masculine by having her bigger in the shots than the man. The weather in which
I had on the day was really good it was snowing, and in most romantic films
snow is generally the weather, as it is cold and it is nice to have someone to
hold at night and be close to.
In my textual analysis essay the main part of the essay was
the genre I wanted to get across was romantic but with a small amount of comedy
in my script. I had to pick specific people that I felt fit the actors. Also I
had to look at the locations on which I wanted to focus on. I wanted to focus
on the field part of the film as I felt it hit all of the right parts, it was
very romantic. Also I got to see what it was like with the costumes in the
locations. Also when I looked at
the pictures back of I can see where I needed to change parts and the many
things that changed from when I took the pictures was where I took the pictures
I felt that I needed to change the
part I had it. When I took the first pictures it wasn’t snowing but when I took
the final pictures it had snowed. But when I thought about it snow is a very
romantic part, when I look to the first holiday film there was snow and I
thought it was really romantic, also I think that snow brings out a lot of
emotions. With this I feel that the audience might connect with the characters.
The location report I felt helped me
because it made me think about the locations that I wanted to get from the
location. There were many things that I had to think about when I was writing
my location report such as how safe the location was how accessible the
location was for the actors. So when I was thinking about my key frames I had
to look at my location report and decided which location to take. When I had
constructed the key frames I then thought about the location report and how it
helped it me to look deeper in to location and what parts I wanted to shot for
my key frames. When I wrote my script I was picturing parts of the script on
the key frames and where exactly I wanted certain shots taken and how I wanted
then taken. But I think I could have spent more time in looking at different
locations, and maybe shooting more places like in the office scene. Then it would have been able to show the femininity in Jack Black proposing to Kate Winslet.
The script was my stronger part out of the
9 key frames as I feel it achieved all of the purpose of making it a romantic
film. I feel it meet my macro of
the representation of gender. I also felt that when I read back on my script it
had a really story to it and I had so many other ideas to add to the
script. I had many locations in
mind when I was writing my script but I am glad the way in which I done, I took
my photos first before I wrote the script so then I could picture the location
and the actors on the set which I had picked. The key frames are when I went
out again and I took the photos again but this time I had the actors in the
costumes and the props on the set. I felt that it all came together really
well.
